Large Meeting RoomLearn about the art of cross-stitch, a craft popular during the American Colonial period. Create a small sampler to take home.
Embroidery is a fiber art that has been practiced for hundreds of years. According to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, during the 1700s young women made samplers depicting alphabets and numerals that helped them to learn basic needlework skills that would aid them in operating the family household. Cross-stitch is a form of embroidery the uses x shaped stitches to create images on fabric.
