Help the Carefull Knitting group transform trash into useful treasure! Spend fifteen minutes or an hour converting plastic bags into plastic yarn that can be used to make waterproof sleeping mats.
Calling all do-gooders! We need your help to convert plastic bags into knittable and crochetable plarn (plastic yarn). Plarn made during the drop-in will be used to make waterproof sleeping mats for people experiencing homelessness. However, it takes over 700 bags to make 1 sleeping mat. That's why we need your help!
Volunteers will be on hand to show you the process. MOM's Organic Market - Alexandria is generously contributing collected plastic bags for the event, but feel free to bring your own to recycle into the cause.
