Running through Earth Month, Barrett Branch will feature art created by the Dunbar Boys & Girls Club accompanied by facts on plastic pollution and its impact on our planet.

The Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Branch of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington opened its doors in October of 1936 as the Alexandria Boys Club and serves boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18, offering many diverse programs and activities.

The art class for 8-10 year-olds has been learning about the plastic pollution crisis and creating works of art as an expression of the crisis. These beautiful and expressive pieces include a 20 foot snake made of plastic bottles named J.J. the Cutie, mosaics, and much more.

On display will be their works of art, specific alternative items that we can all use to replace the use of plastic in our homes and workplaces, and interesting informational facts about plastic pollution and its impact on our planet.

Stop by, take a selfie at the exhibit and send it to the Dunbar Boys and Girls Club @thealexandriagbc. The kids will be thrilled to see their artwork and efforts receive the important attention that it deserves!
