MUSEUM PASSES

National Children’s Museum is partnering with local organizations that serve families through its Community Access Program to ensure the price of admission is not a barrier for any child.  The Alexandria Library is proud to partner with National Children's Museum to provide library customers with free tickets to visit the Museum in downtown Washington, DC. You can learn more about National Museum on their website.

F.A.Q.

How can I check out a museum pass?
Use the online reservation system below to see when passes are available and then book the time and day that best fits your schedule.  Once your reservation is made a staff member will send the museum passes to you by email.  Each person going to the museum will receive a pass, so please provide the number of adults and children who will be using the passes.

What if I don't have an email address?
You may come in to your local branch and ask for assistance in reserving a pass and get the passes printed while at the library.

What is included?
The passes provide free admission to National Children's Museum in Washington, D.C. and includes all exhibits (permanent and temporary) in addition to pop-up experiences, family workshops, and early childhood programs, when offered. Parking is not included in the pass.

Can I use the pass on a different day or at a different time?
No.  You must use the pass on the day indicated on the pass. Please arrive within the hour of your reserved entry time. For example, if you request tickets for the 10:30am entry time, arrive between 10:30am and 11:30am for entry. Guests will not be admitted before their designated entry time. Note: the Museum closes at 4:30pm.

Can I exit and return during my visit?
No, visitors will not be able to re-enter the Museum once they leave.

How often can I reserve a pass?
To make sure that everyone has an opportunity to use the free passes, only one set of passes per household is permitted in a 30-day period.

What is the museum's mask policy?
Effective March 24, 2022, masks will be optional for guests and staff in accordance with CDC and DC guidelines and in alignment with local schools. For more information on the Museum's COVID-19 policies, visit their website.

Do children under one still need a ticket?
Yes. Children under one still need a ticket to enter the museum to ensure an accurate capacity count.
