This interactive workshop will provide an overview of dementia, including types of dementia, common changes, and the difference between dementia and normal aging.
Participants will learn tips for communicating with and providing care for someone living with dementia. Participants will also learn about the free RAFT Dementia Support Program.
Since 2022, Sydney Palinkas has been the RAFT Dementia Education and Outreach Coordinator. Sydney is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker and Certified Dementia Practitioner. Previously Sydney worked at the ElderSAFE Center, a program supporting older adults who have experienced abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Sydney also has experience in long-term care, hospice, and senior centers. RAFT is the Regional Older Adults Facility Mental Health Support Team.
