“Here's a rule of life: You don't get to pick what bad things happen to you.” -- Rory Miller, Meditations on Violence
How would you prepare for the prospect of violence and danger? In our current society, tempers seem to be higher than ever, and more than ever, we will want to band together to protect ourselves and our neighbors.
In this workshop, we'll talk about how to look at types of dangers we encounter, ways to reduce the likelihood of violence, and -- when faced with physical violence -- some strategies for responding. This workshop is designed to be everyday self-defense for the civilian, with some (optional) hands-on practice and a Q&A session afterward. Some basic physical combative responses will be introduced. Options for bystander intervention will also be discussed.
Parking: The library has a large parking lot with 175 spaces.
