Tween Art
Tweens can create different art projects using various mediums and materials.
Macrame, tying knots to make a decorative pattern, was a common pastime of sailors. They made items to sell when they went ashore. Some folklore also suggests sailors made bracelets for loved ones to wear while they were out at sea. Learn how to make a sailor knot bracelet for yourself (or for a friend/family member) this summer at the Beatley Central Library.
Tween Art is for those ages 8-12. This program will be in-person and indoors. Space is limited. Participants can enter the room 15 minutes before the start time.
While children ages 0-5 are now eligible for vaccines, the library is continuing to offer outdoor programming and is slowly phasing in indoor programming for all ages. Until it is determined to be safe for both staff and patrons, we will not offer maximum occupancy to indoor events. Indoor programming in meeting rooms will be phased in starting with 30% of maximum room occupancy for programs for children. Please arrive early to indoor programs as space is limited. Masks may be required at some indoor programs for all participants.

Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library
This free class is rooted in the classical teachings of Sri Dharma Mittra and builds upon the foundational sequence to gently explore new depths of practice. Like all Dharma Yoga, this advanced beginner-to-intermediate level sequence blends the physical discipline of hatha yoga with the meditative and introspective qualities of raja yoga, using posture (asana), breathwork (pranayama), and meditation to promote vitality, inner stillness, and radiant peace.
Students will be guided through Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) and a slightly more dynamic variation of Shiva Namaskar (held poses), with options offered throughout to support students of all levels. Expect a complete and balanced practice that may also include mantras, guided deep relaxation in savasana, and alternate-nostril breathing (nadi shodhana) to calm the nervous system.
This sequence remains accessible to all levels, including beginners. Modifications and the use of props are always encouraged to ensure a safe and supportive experience for every-body.
