Pick up a PINGO card and play to help save the ocean! PINGO will run throughout the month of July.
Pick up your PINGO card at the Barrett Branch Library. The PINGO card contains activities to help you move towards eliminating single-use plastic from your life. Mark your completed activities on the card and once you fill up a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row, bring your card back to Barrett's Information Desk to receive a donation token. You can chose to drop your tokens into the bucket of either the Bahamas Plastic Movement or the Potomac Riverkeeper Network - Trash Free Potomac Campaign. Fill up the whole card to get two tokens to donate. Tokens cannot be redeemed for cash value. Cards must be returned to the Barrett Branch, 717 Queen St., by July 31.
For questions or to find out how you can pick up your card, contact Megan at mzimmerman@alexlibraryva.org.
BPM’s mission is to build a community of education and activism around plastic pollution. By empowering Bahamians to contribute to hands on citizen science and environmental leadership, we aim to evolve mindsets and spark cultural practices that will be pivotal in executing changes at the policy level. Watch the Plastic Warriors short documentary to see the work Bahamas Plastic Movement is doing and check off a spot on your PINGO card!
Our mission is to protect the public’s right to clean water in the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers and their tributaries. We stop pollution to enhance the safety of our drinking water, protect healthy river habitats, and enhance public use and enjoyment. Join in a Potomac Riverkeeper Event and check off a spot in your PINGO card!
Plastic Free July® is a key initiative of the Plastic Free Foundation that allows us to work towards our vision of seeing a world free of plastic waste. Want to go beyond PINGO? Check out their website to Take the Plastic Free Challenge! plasticfreejuly.org
