Oddball Cinema brings you all of the weird, eclectic, and lesser-known films you probably never saw in theaters.
Mark Hogancamp suffered a nearly fatal attack by thugs as he left a bar. Eventually much of his body recovered, but the beating damaged his brain so badly that he completely lost his memory. Once a successful artist, he was unable to work and even unable to remember who he was. As a response to void his life had become, he built a miniature village filled with fictional figures to build new memories and create a meaningful identity for himself. Upon its release, this film based on his experience was polarizing among critics and audiences, with some decrying its bizarre style in telling the story from Hogancamp’s damaged perspective, others appreciating the novel approach.
