Join our panel for a discussion on the adoption of The CROWN Act in Virginia, its implications, and the history of hair discrimination against African American women throughout our country.

The CROWN Act, created in 2019 by Dove and the CROWN Coalition, seeks to end discriminatory regulations in schools and workplaces which center around race-based hairstyles. CROWN, which stands for "Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair", is a law that prohibits race-base hair discrimination, which is the denial of employment and educational opportunities because of hair texture or protective hairstyles including braids, locs, twists, or bantu knots.
