Everything you’ve heard is true! Cult horror fans love this notorious tale of a rampaging sentient tire. With no explanation of how it comes to life or why it seems determined to destroy anything or anyone that gets in its way, an automobile tire simply rises from the dirt where it was discarded by the side of a desert road and starts targeting victims. The movie was written and directed by Quentin Dupieux, who was equally responsible for “Wrong” (which Oddball Cinema showed in January), so you can be sure the production will run off the rails early and often. The story adheres to the conventions of classic Greek drama complete with prologue and chorus to comment on the action, which is relentlessly weird, nonsensical, and violent.
