Craft friendship bracelets, play basketball toss, and learn about 1970s America through the eyes of American Girl Doll Julie Albright! (Ages 6-12)
Travel through time with American Girl doll Julie Albright! We will make friendship bracelets and play basketball toss.
Attend all 4 American Girl events in April for a chance to win a prize basket! Prize drawing will take place at May 5th's American Girl Birthday Party/Meet-and-Greet.
Can’t make this event but still want a chance to win? Visit the corresponding historical site, take a photo of yourself there, and present it to the Children’s desk at your local Alexandria Library branch to get your passport stamped.
This event’s corresponding historical site is the Earl Lloyd statue at Charles Houston Recreation Center. Julie pushed the boundaries of basketball at her new school by joining the all-boys team; 20 years earlier, Alexandria’s own Earl Lloyd pushed the boundaries of basketball as the first African American to play in an NBA game! 901 Wythe St., open daily, hours vary; visit https://www.alexandriava.gov/recreation-centers/charles-houston-recreation-center to plan your visit.
