Join Tony Award-winning singer Melba Moore at Beatley Central Library to hear about her new memoir, "This Is It -- Marvelous...And Getting Better."
In it, Ms. Moore shares many aspects of her career and life, as well as how she navigated the successes and challenges that came her way.
Bring a copy of her book to the event and get it signed. Copies of the book will not be for sale at the Library, however it can be purchased at Amazon and other retailers.

About Melba Moore
In the legendary musical, “Hair”, Ms. Moore became the first African American actress on Broadway to take over a leading role from a white actress, who was Diane Keaton.
Her historic Tony win in 1970 for “Purlie” of which she became the first African American actress to win in the category of Best Female Lead Actress.
On the 1972 CBS-TV summer variety series with Clifton Davis ("The Melba Moore/Clifton Davis Hour") both he and Melba was the first African American couple co-host a network television variety show.
Hit records include “You Stepped Into My Life”, “This Is it”, “Falling”, “Love’s Comin’ At Cha” and the Grammy nominated, “Read My Lips”.
Melba’s rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” was selected by the Library of Congress for the National Recording Registry in 2016.
In 2022, Melba released the album “Imagine”, executive produced by her daughter, Charli Huggins, for the family-owned company, The Gallery Entertainment.
Melba earned the Star of Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in 2023.
