Help keep our waterway beautiful by participating in a land and water-based cleanup hosted by the Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation. (Ages 12+)
Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation will lead a 2-hour cleanup on and around the waterway. Participants can use a kayak to pick up litter or walk along Four Mile Run's banks. All supplies will be provided.
Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation will provide space for 15 kayak paddlers. 6 spaces are for tandem kayaks (2 people per kayak) and 9 spaces are for single kayaks. Participants with their own kayaks, canoes or rafts are welcome to bring and use them.
When registering, please check your preference for single kayak, tandem kayak, your own human-powered watercraft, or pickup by land. We'll do our best to meet your interest, but preference will be given in order of registration.
In the event of rain either the day of or the day before, the cleanup may be canceled due to pollution runoff into Four Mile Run. Water is accessed from an uneven vehicle ramp and there may be nearby construction to install a new ADA-accessible ramp.
All registrants will need to sign a waiver in order to participate. Contact mzimmerman@alexlibraryva.org for more information.
Our mission is to promote nature, culture, and community at lower Four Mile Run through restoration, advocacy, recreation, and education.
Facilitated by the Alexandria Library, this program is designed to create shared experiences through reading. Everyone is invited to read the featured titles and selected books for younger readers. This year's theme is "adventure."
