Beth Patridge Meeting RoomRead and write poems that explore subjects of death, coping with loss, how to preserve memories, and heal through poetry's voice, tone, and form. Register by emailing: poet@alexandriava.gov
The themes of death, loss, and grief are ubiquitous in literature. Authors write about death for many reason such as trying to understand the finality of death, to cope with loss, to preserve memories, or to try to accept their situation and heal. In this workshop, we will read poems that explore these subjects and discuss how poets tackle voice, tone, and form to achieve their goals. We will also make time to start writing our own poems and, if poets wish, to share them with each other. Come ready to get inspired by the poems we read together and the prompts provided.
Attendance is free, but space is limited to the first 15 registrants. To sign up, email your name, home address, email address, and phone number to the Office of the Arts at poet@alexandriava.gov by November 4, 2024.
