Virginia Antebellum Social Libraries at Special Collections

Yvonne Carignan, former director of Special Collections at the Lloyd House, will speak about social libraries in Virginia before the Civil War using The Alexandria Library Company as the premier example in Virginia. A significant number of its library books, its Record Book, collection catalogs, and other materials survive to tell the Library Company's story today.

This class is intended to give the average person the tools they need to take the mystery out of building a solid retirement plan. Flash Book Sale at Beatley Central Library

Friends of the Beatley Central Library will be having a Flash Book Sale of Cookbooks on Saturday and Sunday (February 7 & 8). The sale will run from 10-5 p.m. on Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday. Prices will be $3 for hardbacks and $1 for softcover AND.... there will be a Buy One Get One FREE!
