Alexandria Library on C-SPAN

Alexandria Library was pleased to be a part of C-SPAN's BOOK-TV and American History TV (AHTV) documentary series about our historic city on March 16 and 17. Our Special Collections Branch Manager, George Combs, along with Black History Museum's Acting Director, Audrey Davis, detail the trailblazing Civil Rights sit-in that took place at Barrett Branch Library in 1939, led by the African American attorney and native Alexandrian, Samuel Wilbert Tucker. Check out the video below to find out more about this significant time in history, uncommonly known by many Americans.

Additional BOOK-TV and AHTV Alexandria segments are now viewable online.
