Awesome Aeronautics at Beatley Central

For the next three Saturdays, join Beatley Central and NASA as we learn about airplanes, air balloons, kites, and gliders.

Airplanes, Family, Friends, and Flowers -- Saturday, February 14, at 2 p.m.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day as we learn about airplanes and NASA Aeronautics and how they bring us together. Join us as we read stories about how airplanes connect families and bring us many of the things we own, such as fruit and flowers. Participate as we sing songs about getting on an airplane, and as we create crafts that "fly."

Hot Air Balloons and Parachutes -- Saturday, February 21, at 2 p.m.

Celebrate the first launch of a hot air balloon as we learn about how people (and animals!) learned to fly in the first “heavier-than-air” aircraft. Join us as we read stories about hot air balloons that rise, and parachutes that drop, and participate in a number of science activities to learn about floating and sinking. Build and test your own parachute.

Kites and Gliders -- Saturday, February 28, at 2 p.m.

Celebrate the first aviators by doing what they did – building and testing gliders. Join us as we read stories about plants and animals that glide, and how they inspired generations of inventors to learn how to glide before they knew how to fly propelled airplanes. Build two different types of gliders, and make a kite sun-catcher.
