Share your favorite banned books!

We are excited to invite you to join us in celebrating Banned Books Week this year. At Alexandria Library, we believe in the power of words and the freedom to read, explore, and discuss diverse ideas. Banned Books Week is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to intellectual freedom and to celebrate the books that have faced censorship and challenges.

How to Participate:

  1. Choose Your Favorite Banned Book:  Select the banned book that has touched your heart, challenged your thinking, or made you see the world from a different perspective.
  2. Snap a Photo: Take a creative picture of yourself with your chosen banned book. It could be a bookshelf snapshot, a cozy reading nook pic, or a selfie in front of one of our Banned Books displays at the Library!
  3. Share on Social Media: Post your photo on your preferred social media platform (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X) and share what makes this book special to you.
  4. Tag Us: Don't forget to tag Alexandria Library in your post, and use the hashtag #bannedbooksweek to connect with others celebrating Banned Books Week.

Why Participate?

By participating in this event, you not only celebrate your love for literature but also advocate for the freedom to read without censorship. Your photo will inspire others to explore banned books, fostering a community of readers who appreciate diverse voices and ideas.

Let's stand together against censorship, celebrate the written word, and embrace the rebellious spirit of Banned Books Week. Join us in sharing your love for literature and championing the freedom to read.

Thank you for being a part of our vibrant and book-loving community. We can't wait to see your photos and celebrate Banned Books Week together!
