Students & the First Amendment
Young Adult Civics Session
Tuesday, September 19
6:45pm - 7:45pm
Kate Waller Barrett Branch Library
Second FloorTeens are invited to join in this documentary and discussion considering students' right to free speech in school. This event is for teens in grades 6-12.
We take for granted that the First Amendment to the Constitution states:
Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press...
But how does freedom of expression apply to students?
We'll watch the short documentary First Amendment: Student Freedom of Speech produced by the Annenberg Public Policy Center and talk about the film and our own ideas.
Contact Megan at mzimmerman@alexlibraryva.org for more information.
