A decade after an alien force invades and occupies the Earth, humans in a Chicago neighborhood are divided into two factions:  the collaborators and the resistance.  A police commander in charge of keeping the resistance at bay takes a special interest in one of its young members.  The boy is the son of his former partner, who was killed by aliens during the invasion.  Despite genuine concern for the boy, the commander envisions using him to gain information about the underground rebel network.
