In 1900 a young widow is enchanted by a seaside cottage and decides to live there. The house previously belonged to a sea captain, and it soon becomes apparent that – despite having shuffled off the mortal coil – the captain still takes an interest in what happens in his former home. While their first encounter is the stuff of typical ghost stories as he tries to scare her away, the two eventually arrive at a truce and go on to form a lasting relationship.
