Do you love reading YA books? Do you wish you had others to discuss these books with? Then this is the book club for you! Ages 13+

Pick up a copy of The Fire Never Goes out at the circulation desk of Duncan Library while supplies last, made available thanks to the Friends of the Duncan Library!

The Fire Never Goes Out is a collection of essays and personal mini-comics that span eight years of her young adult life, author-illustrator Noelle Stevenson charts the highs and lows of being a creative human in the world. Whether it’s hearing the wrong name called at her art school graduation ceremony, or becoming a National Book Award finalist for her debut graphic novel, "Nimona", Noelle captures the little and big moments that make up a real life, with a wit, wisdom, and vulnerability that are all her own.

In celebration of Women's History Month, we will journey back in time during our meeting and look at the art and progression of women comic makers from the Golden Age (early 1900's) to the work of women who contributed to the rise and popularity of comics and graphic novels today!

Since our book club pick is on the shorter side this month I have a list of other recommended titles that you can check out from the library:

Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood (Persepolis, #1)
by Marjane Satrapi

Nimona
by N.D. Stevenson

Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me
by Mariko Tamaki, Rosemary Valero-O'Connell

Spinning

On a Sunbeam

Flung Out of Space: Inspired by the Indecent Adventures of Patricia Highsmith
