Sprouse Rare Book RoomJoin Barrett and LH/SC staff in transcribing World War I era articles on the Virginia Chronicle website. Bring a laptop or checkout a Chrome book to participate. Attendance limited to 15.
Learn how to set-up an account on the Virginia Chronicle website and basic rules for transcribing historic newspapers. If you bring a laptop or want to checkout a Chrome book, you can begin transcribing articles between 1912 and 1919. We have two subject areas to work on during this transcribe-a-thon: World War I articles ranging from the sinking of the Lusitania to the Meuse-Argonne Offensive or transcribing Kate Waller Barrett's Travel Series contained in the Alexandria Gazette.
Come join us to learn more about historic newspapers and how you can help increase access and searchability of these resources.
