Celebrate World Localization Day! Prepare and share a locally sourced meal with loved ones and tune in to screen with Alexandria Library the newest film from Local Futures.
World Localization Day calls us to uplift our communities and the natural systems we depend on by supporting local economies and the farmers and food producers who grow nearby.
Join in this celebration with others from around the planet by preparing a wholesome meal made from local food. Gather with family and friends to enjoy the feast and remotely watch and discuss with us the brand new Local Futures film.

Where can you get local food? Visit the Alexandria Farmer's Markets, local and natural grocery stores, bakeries and spice shops. Grow vegetables and herbs in your home garden or pots or in a community garden. Trade plants with neighbors. Purchase sauces from local stores and restaurants. Buy beer brewed locally, Virginia grown wines and spirits distilled in Virginia and DC. Join a Community Supported Agriculture subscription. Check out a farmer's market cookbook from the library!
How can you watch the film? Register to receive the link to the Zoom event. Can't join us for the film? Consider getting together with friends and family during the month of June to share a meal and discuss localization. Here are ideas from Local Futures of activities you can do.
