On Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 7:00 PM join us for a Zoom presentation, where Ellen Hamilton will speak about her new book, “A Scottish Migration to Alexandria.”

At least five years in the making, and intended as a film, her new book tells the story of Scottish migration to America, featuring William Gregory, who settled here in Alexandria. Hamilton managed to find descendants of William, who provided her with Gregory family letters, and letters from William himself, describing his journey to America aboard a wooden sailing ship, in 1807. A Scottish Migration to Alexandria explains why millions of Scots left their home country, and what William found on his arrival in Alexandria, Virginia.
