Enjoy a free performance of authentic Mexican Mariachi music outside of the Barrett Branch to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
"Humberto Guzman y su Mariachi Los Mensajeros del Sur has been playing contemporary and traditional mariachi music in the D.M.V area for over 30 years! This unique, fun and energetic group makes every event they play a real fiesta! Mariachi is a type of traditional Mexican folk music and musical performance that dates back lo a least the 18th century. Mariachi is typically performed by a small group of strolling musicians dressed in native costume. The instruments in an authentic mariachi band are the violin, guitar, bass, a trumpet. The Mariachi continues to be a common and essential source of entertainment in Mexico and in the United States."
