Just as investigators in "The Library Book" sought clues to understand the damage of the L.A. Public Library fire, help examine how trees in your area are withstanding climate and habitat changes.
Using the GLOBE Observer app, we'll learn how to study and contribute to the global collection of data around tree survival, growth and coverage. Using the Trees protocol of the app, we'll measure tree height, an important indicator of an ecosystem's ability to support tree growth. This data will feed into the GLOBE Program data pool, where it will support NASA research on environmental health.
During this virtual workshop, we'll look the why and how and then test out the app itself. To download the app on your mobile device ahead of time, visit your app store and search for "GLOBE Observer".
The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program, announced on Earth Day 1994, seeks to encourage contributions from citizens around the world to research and data collection that helps with understating the global environment. To learn more visit The GLOBE Program.
