Dr. Douglas Reed joins us to talk about his book, "Building the federal schoolhouse : Localism and the American Education State."
Dr. Douglas Reed joins us to discuss his book, Building the Federal School House: Localism and the American Education State. The book examines how the federal government's efforts to reform American public education have transformed U.S. schools and local politics. The talk will explore the intersections between Alexandria's political contexts and school reform efforts, paying special attention to the historical experiences of racial segregation and integration and how race continues to impact ACPS today. Audience Q&A to follow.
This is a follow up presentation to our earlier conversation about Race in Alexandria City Public Schools, in which Dr. Reed only gave a brief history on which we built our conversation. View that conversation online on the library's YouTube Channel.
