Saturday, October 24
11:00am - 2:00pm

Bring small appliances, electronics and furniture in need of repair, and watches in need of new batteries. We'll have volunteer coaches at the Barrett Branch to help try to get them in working again.

Join in the celebration of International Repair Day and bring your electronics, small appliances, furniture and watches to the Barrett Branch Library. Let's see if it can be repaired!

Please note that this event will focus on electronics (excluding computers and mobile devices), small appliances, furniture and watch battery replacement. Appliances that pump liquid cannot be repaired at this event. No more than one watch can be serviced with a replacement battery provided by the volunteer. If you would like more than one watch battery replaced, please bring the battery with you. For a list of repair businesses in the area, visit the City of Alexandria's Repair Directory.

To get information and updates about the event, register with an email address.

Community Repair Event Rules

  1. Check in at the Welcome Table to sign the Liability Waiver.
  2. There is a limit of two items for repair per visitor. *More items may be considered as space and time allows.
  3. This is not a drop-off service. Remain with your item(s) at all times.
  4. Repair coaches are not liable for damages or unrepaired items brought in. This is a free, community-focused service, not a for-profit event.
  5. When you are with your repair coach, you can choose to: a) watch as the repair is attempted, b) work with the repair coach or c) attempt the repair yourself under the guidance of a repair coach.

Liability Statement

Visitors to the Kate Waller Barrett Branch, Alexandria Library, offer broken items for repair at your own risk; volunteers performing repairs make no guarantees and are not liable for condition of broken items. Volunteers reserve the right to refuse repairs on any items deemed unsafe, unrepairable or for any other reason. Repairs are attempted at the volunteer’s discretion.
