The Significance of World Cup 2026
By Futbol Papa!
Wednesday, June 10
6:30pm - 7:30pm
Kate Waller Barrett Branch Library
Second FloorFutbol Papa (aka journalist Robert J. Riccio) will share his soccer journey—what soccer means to him—and why World Cup 2026, to be played on home soil this summer, is particularly significant.
Futbol Papa grew up abroad where soccer was his passport to make friends. After peaking as a U17 International player, Papa remained in the soccer world as a youth coach, club administrator, sports journalist, and independent writer. Papa’s presentation will cover his soccer journey, a primer on the World Cup, and his take on this summer’s tournament. The hour-long presentation will include items to touch, slides, videos, handouts, a Q&A period, and goodie bags.
