Looking Back to Move Forward
Using Intentional Reflection in Your Writing Life
Saturday, February 21
1:00pm - 4:00pm
James M. Duncan Jr. Branch Library
Beth Patridge Meeting RoomJoin the local Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) to practice intentional writing skills with Virginia writer, Marcie Flinchum Atkins
As writers, we sometimes feel like we’re floundering and don’t know what next steps to take. Whether it’s the next step on a project, deciding on a new project, or looking at your writing practices and career as a whole. Intentional reflection can help us know what next steps to take. We’ll practice reflecting, and participants will receive questions for project-based, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reflections. Bring a notebook or laptop for recording your reflections.
Bio: Marcie Flinchum Atkins is a teacher-librarian by day and a writer for children and young adults in the wee hours of the morning. Her debut young adult novel, One Step Forward, is a novel-in-verse that focuses on a local history story with national impact. She also writes poetry and nonfiction.
