Facilitator Bio
Irene Tapanti, PhD, is a molecular biologist and interdisciplinary artist specializing in restorative arts and sound-based wellbeing. She holds a doctorate in bioscience and has over a decade of experience with contemplative practices and community-based creative programs. Her approach integrates scientific understanding of stress regulation with accessible, evidence-informed relaxation methods. Iréne is trained in sound therapy and is committed to culturally respectful, inclusive, and community-centered programming.
Program Flow
- Welcome and overview
- Brief educational segment on sound, stress, and the nervous system
- Floor opens briefly for sharing
- Aromatherapy, guided breathing, light tapping, and grounding techniques (optional)
- 45-minute sound journey
- Integration and closing reflections/sharing
Participant Guidelines
Attendees should bring:
- A yoga mat
- Comfortable clothing
- Blanket and pillow
- Water bottle
- Optional eye mask
- Optional face mask if sessions are held during peak illness season
- Chairs can be provided for patrons who prefer not to lie on the floor.
For the safety of patrons and the Library, the program presenter requires all participants to sign a standard wellness activity waiver. This program uses therapeutic sound instruments that produce gentle, sustained resonance. Individuals with pacemakers, implanted medical devices, sound-induced epilepsy, or those in the first trimester of pregnancy should not participate without written medical clearance.
