Join us in honoring the legacy of African American writers. Participants can sign up to read an excerpt from a work by a favorite author, poet or essayist. Reading times are limited to 3-5 minutes.

In celebration of America250 consider reading a selection about freedom, independence, a visionary or law.

The National African American Read-In (AARI) is a groundbreaking effort to encourage communities to read together, centering African American books and authors. It was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. This initiative has reached more than 6 million participants around the world.”

Register to reserve your spot to read aloud. Include what works or author you would like to read. Please include an email address. Registration not required to attend.
