The main characters in this feature are probably regarded as oddballs in their small town, and they spend one night pursuing a mystifying adventure. Set in the 1950s, when space travel was just a tantalizing dream and UFOs were the subject of wild stories in magazines, the mostly dialogue-driven story focuses on a teenage girl who works as a switchboard operator and her boyfriend, a radio DJ. They’re among the few town residents who aren’t at the high school basketball game one evening rooting for the home team. Some noisy interference briefly blocks the radio signal, and the same sound starts coming through one circuit on the switchboard. The couple figure that something strange is going on, and their investigation takes them further and further into the unknown.
