How Not to Be a Scammer's Next Victim
Friday, November 14
10:30am - 11:30am
Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library
Large Meeting RoomJoin presenter Christine Dale, who holds a Masters in Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London, to learn how to protect yourself from scams and identity theft.
Information plays such an essential role in our daily lives, but we as a society have been remiss in protecting this valuable commodity. A plethora of high-profile attacks have resulted in the disclosure of confidential data, ID theft, and your Personally Identifiable Information the wrong hands.
In this program, you will learn about the latest scams, such as pig butchering, fishing, & SIM swapping, and what you can do to protect yourself. You will also learn how to fight back against scammers by being security aware and prepared, and why you should pay more attention to texts that (supposedly!) come from your financial institution.
