The America 250 Book Club

Local History/Special Collections is quarterly book club in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary. Join us to explore U.S. history through books that highlight freedom, democracy, and identity.

The Local History & Special Collections invites you to join the America 250 Book Club, a new series celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The series kicks off on October 15, 2025, where patrons can learn more about the book club and pick up the first selection. The reading list includes:

• 1776 by David McCullough
• Signing Their Lives Away: The Fame and Misfortune of the Men Who Signed the Declaration of Independence by Denise Kiernan and Joseph D'Agnese
• The British Are Coming: The War for America, Lexington to Princeton, 1775–1777 by Rick Atkinson
• The Fate of the Day: The War for America, Fort Ticonderoga to Charleston, 1777–1780 by Rick Atkinson
• This Fierce People: The Untold Story of America's Revolutionary War in the South by Alan Pell Crawford

Through these titles, we’ll explore the fight for independence, the founding of the United States, and the diverse voices that shaped our history.
