The author of six Old Town Mysteries will discuss his books, characters and future stories.
John Adam Wasowicz has lived in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County for 40 years. He has practiced law in the public and private sectors since 1985, including service as an Asst. Commonwealth Attorney.
His first book, “Daingerfield Island,” published in 2017, introduced readers to Mo Katz, the protagonist in the series. Since then, Wasowicz has written five additional mysteries tracing the adventures of Katz and his entourage as they solve crimes throughout Old Town Alexandria.
Other books in the series include “Hazel Falls,” a fictitious venue for the Alexandria Water Treatment Plant in the Eisenhower Valley where ‘Hazel,’ a massive boring device, is currently completing the AlexRenew water restoration project; and “Jones Point,” a thriller that includes a plot to smuggle surface-to-air missiles onto the Wilson Bridge.
The seventh book in the series — “Spite House” — will be published in spring 2024.
Wasowicz describes himself as "an old school mystery writer" influenced by Agatha Christie and Raymond Chandler, who he describes as two of the great masters of the genre. He has lectured at several Lifelong Learning Institute programs in Virginia about how writing keeps the mind agile as one ages.
Copies of his Old Town mysteries will be available at the talk for purchase and signing.
