Connect to an interpreter in over 200 languages, including ASL, to assist you in communicating with library staff.  Please see staff at the information desk at your local branch. (Interprete / ተርጓሚ / مترجم )

HOME DELIVERY of library materials to those Alexandria residents who are unable to visit the library. Call 703-746-1702x8.

TALKING BOOK SERVICE is a free service provided through Library of Congress for the blind, physically or visually impaired or learning disabled. For an application to join this service and for more information call 703-746-1760.

LARGE PRINT, AUDIOBOOKS, and EAUDIOBOOKS are provided for those with low vision or blindness.

CLOSED CAPTIONED videos are provided for those individuals with hearing impairment.

Aladdin CCTV
The user places script on a platform and it is magnified on a screen in front of them. It helps when viewing photographs, personal mail, balancing a checkbook or reading a book. This can be done in color or black & white.

Kurzweil Personal Reader 
An optical scanner that reads typeset or typewritten text and turns it into speech. It can read single typed sheets or bound books and magazines.

Screen reader software offers screen reading capability to blind or visually impaired computer users allowing them to access education and job related applications for browsing the web, or reading or writing e-mail messages.

Window Eyes
A screen reading program which allows access to Microsoft Windows and compatible applications through synthesized speech output.

Adaptive software designed specifically to meet the needs of the visually impaired with screen magnification and screen reading technology which provides complete access to all Microsoft Windows applications.

Alexandria City Services
Available to residents with a diagnosis of developmental disability.  Person centered services are available to residents of the City of Alexandria with a diagnosis of developmental disability.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is the 3rd Thursday each May, and promotes digital accessibility and inclusion for people with all disabilities.
