Large Meeting RoomOddball Cinema brings you all of the weird, eclectic, and lesser-known films you probably never saw in theaters.
New York City, 1939: giant flying robots menace the city. Only Sky Captain can save the day! This ode to and genial spoof of early adventure serials features tension-filled scenes that will make you say “gee whiz” and super-secret technology that will make you say “holy smokes!” A lovely reporter manages to tag along on the Captain’s mission, so there’s a love story (sort of) as well. Filmed almost entirely in front of a green screen with scenery added in post-production, the visuals are amazing and unique; the story, however, is true to 1930s standards, so modern sensibilities may suffer a ray-gun blast or two.
