Learn about Pueblo artist Maria Martinez with Miss Vanessa and pick up an art kit at the Kate Waller Barrett Branch to create black on black ceramic artwork at home!
Art Explorers is an art history themed story time and an art project, done in the style of a famous artist or art movement from history. Explore art and discover new ways of creating it - a perfect end result is never required! The focus is early art appreciation and allowing children to explore their creativity. It's the process, not the product that matters.
This program will feature Pueblo artist Maria Martinez and her black on black pottery. Watch our YouTube video to learn the artist's history and to see examples of the work. Art kits will be available beginning Monday, November 1 while supplies last. Pick up a kit only at the Kate Waller Barrett Branch. Please be cautious while transporting your art kit to avoid spills. Kits will also include a fact sheet. Adult supervision may be required.
