Come and sing books with Emily! Ages 0-5
Emily Gleichenhaus began discovering illustrated songs when her children were babies. As a professional theater and cabaret artist, Emily was compelled to sing the songs and started working with amazing musicians to arrange music to accompany the singing. And her repertoire grew.
With much experience in theater and cabaret, Emily understands the importance of knowing everything possible about a song and developing a unique interpretation for it. Thus, Emily’s blog, SingBooksWithEmily.wordpress.com, was born in 2009 to provide a way to collect and document what she discovers and develops for each illustrated song.
Today, Emily also sometimes accompanies herself with ukulele. Her blog is is filled with printable PDFs of her simple guitar and ukulele chord arrangements to help you sing with your kids at home.
Besides ukulele, Emily also enhances the musical experience of Sing Books with zany instruments that kids love like kazoo, train whistle, glockenspiel, limberjack, foot tambourines, rain sticks, and jingle bells.
Emily frequently Sings Books at local libraries and has sung many thousands of performances in classrooms at local schools. Sing Books gives kids the experience of seeing and hearing music being made right in front of them. It is live performance edutainment. Singing these songs with kids shares culture, musical heritage, history, and social and academic literacy. Illustrated songs are an incredibly enriching, engaging, and enjoyable way to learn.
