Dr. Ashley Pennington, a Zero Emissions Vehicle expert, will provide information about the movement towards ZEVs, the benefits and difficulties of transitioning and the innovations in the field.
Cutting pollution and greenhouse gas emissions is highly dependent on the adoption of more sustainable modes of transportation, as in 2019 a whoping 29% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the US were derived from transportation. However, the benefits and costs of moving to a zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) fleet can be confusing or uncertain. Dr. Ashley Pennington, will discuss how ZEVs are helping to curb emissions, how to know what is available, charging and refueling infrastructure. She will also dive into some engineering and material science behind some of these latest technologies. Discussion will shed some light in the murky areas of this fleet transition.
Dr. Ashley Pennington is a Chemical and Biological Engineer and a self-described gearhead with experience in sustainable fuel generation, battery material design, fleet electrification, science policy, and has a passion for outreach and education.
