My Dearest Wife

I have a letter from Lucy today, informing me she is preparing for a visit to Va & expects to start next week, she will doubtless visit you all at Charlottesville, her letter is full of love & kindness. I hope you will see her soon. she sends a message from Richards Smith who has just returned from a visit to Va from you & the baby. I have nothing new my love to tell you with regard to my self [sic]. I am well, the prospect of our soon seeing each other does not appear to brighten much as far as I can learn - Patience & hope my dear wife & trust in God - a kiss for yourself & the baby, love to all.

Your devoted Husband

M.D. Corse"
