Alexandria Library, Special Collections Document of the Month

This month's document reminds us that trouble with the mail system is not unusual in times of strife. The author of this letter, written in 1861, asks his friend to forward an enclosed letter, perhaps to a family member. He notes that mail to and from Washington D.C. had been irregular for some time and had finally stopped.

The letter is part of our Manuscript Collection, Box 240 VF Correspondence.
