The Great Big Story Time:
The successor to our longtime series of summer programs at Fort Ward Park, this is a special summer program series of story times.  Stories are told with lots of props and plenty of audience participation. Creative moment and action games are always a part of these programs.

Read, Sing & Play, Baby (0-11 months, w/adult):
Read, Sing & Play Baby! Introduces parents and caregivers to rhymes, songs and games they can play with their babies anytime and anywhere. These games stimulate language development, physical development, and most of all encourage interaction between babies and their grownups. Each program includes an open playtime with toys and board books.

Mother Goose Time (12-24 months):
Mother Goose Time is a circle time for toddlers and their parents/caregivers. It includes songs, puppets, lap games, fingerplays and other activities to help with language development and early literacy skills.

Stories To Grow On (2 years & up):
Stories to Grow on is for children 2 and up, an age where they are beginning to be ready to participate in a group with an adult. Books are the heart of the program but stories are told with puppets and other media. There is plenty of action games and sometimes just free dancing to fun music! Younger brothers and sisters are welcome to come along to the program with their siblings.

Story Time (3 years & up):
Story Time is for children who are ready to participate in a group without a parent—adults remain outside the story room during the program. Stories are told in a variety of ways and there is an emphasis on participation, including creative movement. Each program ends with a short film or a simple craft designed to encourage fine motor skills and creative thinking.

Summer Quest Jr:
In addition to our Summer Quest reading game Summer Quest Junior offers a variety of special activities including musical performers, puppet shows, a “dance party” and “outdoor day” with special activities outside the Children’s Room.
