Access library resources — even when you're not at the library! Several of the library's subscription database services provide mobile applications for portable devices. Locate the App from the device provider's website or store and follow the instructions for logging in to the Alexandria Library's services.

 Alexandria Library Mobile App (Apple and Android devices)

AlexLibVA Mobile Catalog App

ALERT: Alexandria Library's mobile app for Apple devices (AlexLibVa) has been updated in iTunes. Customers may have to delete the old version and download the updated version.


Download the free Alexandria Library Mobile App to get on-the-go mobile access to our online catalog. The app is compatible with Android, iPhone and iPod Touch devices and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play for free.

 

What can you do with Alexandria Library Mobile App?

Access Your Account:  Using your library card number and pin you can check due dates, place a hold, renew a book, you can even get alerts when books are due or holds become available.  

Locate: Find branch locations, hours, phone numbers.

Search the Catalog:  Search the catalog by author, title, subject, barcode, or keyword.  You'll see book summaries, cover images, number of copies and more. 

Scan Barcodes:  If you see a book you like at a friend's house or a bookstore, scan the barcode and see if the library has it and which branch has the item

BookMyne App for Androids

BookMyne, a similar app which will access your account and the library catalog, is accessible for Android devices at Google Play (Requires 2.3 and up)

Odilo App

The Odilo app lets you read Odilo eBooks in Spanish on your smartphone or tablet, browse your library’s catalog, borrow items and place them on hold, download and return titles, as well as make notes, place bookmarks and more. The Odilo app is the only app you need for your eReading pleasure.

 Overdrive App (Apple and Android devices)

OverDrive App

OverDrive works with leading technology companies to develop recommended software and apps for end users to enjoy eBooks, audiobooks, music and video. Compatible computers and devices include PC, Mac®, iPhone®, iPad®, Android, BlackBerry® and Windows® Phone. Kindle® compatibility (US schools and libraries only) requires Kindle device or Kindle reading apps developed by Amazon.

Libby is a new app from Overdrive. It has some great new features that should make borrowing, using, and returning electronic and audio books even easier. You can find it on both iOS (Apple)and Android (Google Play).

You can visit the Libby Help for more information.

It is important to note that while the Libby app was created by Overdrive, it is separate from the Overdrive app. The original Overdrive app is still available, so you can choose whichever one you prefer. You do not need both, but if you already have the Overdrive app, maybe give Libby a try and see if it is a better fit.

An easy to use application to download and transfer audiobooks from OneClickdigital. Before using you have to first visit our RBDigital site to create an account.

 Freegal App (Apple and Android devices)

Freegal Music App

Freegal Music is a free music service from Alexandria Library. Alexandria Library cardholders can download up to five songs per week from the Sony music collection and other licensed labels for your personal use. Once you download the songs, they're yours to keep. Cardholders can also stream up to 3 hours of music per day.

 

Tip: If you would like to transfer your downloads to iTunes visit Alexandria Library Freegal Music on your desktop/laptop instead of the mobile app. Downloading songs via the app will store the music on the app.

  Gale Databases App (Apple and Android devices)

The AccessMyLibrary Public Edition mobile app from Gale. AccessMyLibrary uses GPS to find libraries within a 10-mile radius of your location, then gives you free, unlimited access to their reputable, authoritative Gale online resources — without the need to log in. Based on your current location, AccessMyLibrary locates libraries within a 10-mile radius. You can then select a library and access all its Gale electronic resources. Remember to bookmark your library to access it from anywhere on earth that you have access to the Internet.
