Are you a maker?

Calling all Makers! The Beatley Central Library is looking for local Makers to be a part of our Fall Festival festivities on September 24 from 12-3pm! Apply now to have a table to show off what you have been making to all your friends and neighbors! Local organizations are welcome to apply. Participants will be able to provide information about yourself or your organization, but please no selling at this event. Children under 18 need parent/guardian permission to participate. Children under 14 must present with an adult.

Please submit your application by September 9. Tables will be granted on a first come, first served basis.


 

 

 

 

Bankruptcy Basics at Burke Branch

Join Burke Branch on Thursday, August 25, at 6:30 p.m. as Nora Raum, Esq. describes the qualifications for, types of, and the process of bankruptcy. Bankruptcy does not even cross most people's minds until they find themselves in financial trouble. But in these difficult times, it is a good idea for everyone to understand their potential options. The two main types of bankruptcy, Chapter 7 and Chapter 13, will be described as well as eligibility and what property may be kept.

A Random House representative will give a presentation on the newest titles. Attendees will receive a free book bag tote and excerpts of upcoming books. Attendance capped at 50.

During this three-day period, purchases of certain school supplies, clothing and footwear will be exempt from the Virginia sales tax. Each eligible school supply item must be priced at $20 or less, and each eligible article of clothing and footwear must be priced at $100 or less.
