A program about Eric Carle, author and illustrator of classic children's books, like "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and "Brown Bear" - learn about his life and art techniques, then try them at home!

Art Explorers is an art history themed story time that is followed by an art project, done in the style of a famous artist or art movement from history.  This session will cover artist Eric Carle and his painted tissue paper collages.

Watch our YouTube video to learn the artist's history and to see examples of their work.

Art kits will be available until May 7 while supplies last.

Art kits are only available through curbside pickup at the Kate Waller Barrett branch - just put ART EXPLORERS KIT in the description box when you make your appointment. Kits include non-toxic, washable paint. Please be cautious while transporting your art kit to avoid spills. Kits will also include a Eric Carle fact sheet. Adult supervision may be required.

As always, the goal is to explore art and discover new ways of creating it. A perfect end result is never required! The focus is early art appreciation and allowing children to explore their creativity. It's the process, not the product that matters in Art Explorers!

Contact Vanessa Salo at vsalo@alexlibraryva.org or 703.746.1744 with any questions, comments or concerns.
