A monthly program that features a story, a craft and a baking project inspired by a different American Girl™ character. Discover what life in Alexandria was like in Melody Ellison's™ era this August!

Discover what life was like in Alexandria with American Girl™ characters! This virtual program will feature a different American Girl each month. We will read an excerpt from their book, craft, and explore what Alexandria was like during their time period with Miss Tricia from our Local History branch. August will feature Melody Ellison™ and what the Civil Rights Movement was like in Alexandria.

Watch the program video on our Youtube channel. Make sure to be on the lookout for an extra baking video with Miss Lisa who will show us how to make recipes from the American Girl™ books!  Check out the music playlist on Freegal!

Craft kits are available to take home. Schedule a curbside appointment to pick up your Melody Ellison™ craft supply kit - just write "MELODY CRAFT KIT" in the notes field. Kits can also be picked up in person at the Kate Waller Barrett children's reference desk while supplies last. One kit per child. No substitutions.
